Airdrie United will aim to extend a five-match winning streak when they visit East Kilbride in League One this Saturday. The Diamonds' last outing was a 1-0 home win over Montrose on October 3rd, secured by a penalty from Liam Gibson.
Their recent form shows two wins and three defeats from the last five, but the sequence of victories is the focus. It includes a 7-1 Challenge Cup thrashing of Berwick Rangers and a 6-1 away win at Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic. The run began with league wins against Peterhead and Alloa Athletic. In the 6-1 win over Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, the goals came in a 15-minute spell either side of half time, a period of clinical finishing that turned the game. Similarly, the opening goal in the 1-0 victory against Montrose arrived in the 78th minute, showing the team's persistence.
The starting eleven from the Montrose win featured Josh Sneddon in goal, with a back four of Scott Fisher, Daniel Gallagher, Craig Ross and Rhys Tumilty. The midfield trio of Dylan MacDonald, Euan Simpson and Calum Smith supported forwards Liam Gibson and Josh Gentles, with Gavin Gallagher leading the line.
Airdrie's next fixture is this away clash with East Kilbride on October 10th.
