Airdrie United have appointed John Rankin as their new head coach, replacing Aaron Taylor-Sinclair after relegation to Scottish League 1. Rankin joins Airdrie United after a short spell as Ayr United interim manager. He has a two-and-a-half year spell as Hamilton Academical head coach from 2022-25. Rankin made more than 100 appearances as a midfielder for each of Ross County, Hibernian and Dundee United. He believes he has 'a blank canvas' at Airdrie United, with only a handful of players remaining from the previous team. Everything needs built, and Rankin thinks this is the point where he can put his own stamp on the team. Airdrie United parted with Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, 35, following their relegation to Scottish League 1 via the play-offs. Rankin's appointment is a significant move for Airdrie United, and fans will be eager to see how he performs in his new role.
